Our StoRy
A piece of land overlooking the Indian Ocean captivated the discerning eyes of Kumar Manchharam with a magical charm. Soon after, The Shanti Residence opened its doors in 2007 with a design concept conceived by acclaimed Balinese architect Popo Danes.
Merely a tagline, “Beyond the Ordinary.”, is etched to describe The Shanti residence, the place, the uninterrupted Ocean views, and the people who serve wholeheartedly for all guests.
By respecting the past and embracing elegant design, The Shanti Residence thrived to become one of South East Asia’s top private villas.
In January 2014, Kumar established the Shanti Foundation as a tribute to his late mother, Shanti, whom the Residence and Foundation are both named after. Living to the meaning of Shanti, peace, the foundation aims to continue the philosophy of loving and giving while contributing to society. The foundation provides scholarships for underprivileged children, amongst other philanthropic initiatives.
A transformative renovation was completed in 2016 based on an aesthetic direction from the late Indonesian designer Jaya Ibrahim, strengthening The Shanti Residence’s position as a beyond-extraordinary abode on the cliff-side of Nusa Dua.
Today and tomorrow, The Shanti Residence awaits to create memorable stories for its guests in search of something beyond the ordinary in life.
